this was a wonderful analysis, when you watch the highlights of the show, you see all the good parts and humor in what everyone says but its great the way you broke this all down to see all the different ways he manipulated the others in this show!

I really like Chelsea as portrayed on the show, but her responses to a man (Black or otherwise) who only seemed half-interested in her at best and uninterested (flirting with Micah) at worst was so confusing. Dr Cherie made it plain that Chelsea’s goals seemed to outweigh what I assume to be her standard level of common sense. In the end, both Chelsea and Kwame got some things in each other that are very important to them, so I think they have a good chance of having a long, beneficial marriage. I certainly hope I’m right for their sake.

Am I the only one here who finds Jimmy's behaviors kinda sus throughout the whole TV show and sees why Chelsea's insecure or do I have some unresolved stuff I need to process? It seemed like the entire show he was unsure and trying to play it cool about having Chosen Chelsea over the other girl. I get why that would trigger Chelsea's insecure attachment with such high stakes (they're literally on a time crunch to figure out if they wanna get married). Her reactions were extreme and definitely not okay, but I see why they were triggered.

Honestly I don’t think it’s that she’s more goal driven. I would say it’s a combination of being superficial and choosing the marriage over someone truly choosing her just so she can showcase that to the world and feel better about her self that way when really you should not be feeling good about your self if you’re a deep person and the other person has doubts about marrying you. I also think she has experienced rejection so much that she chooses to not see rejection as rejection because it makes get feel better not to. That can only lead to making the wrong choice because I don’t believe she is seeing reality. She is making choices governed by her insecurity of never getting the marriage and never getting the husband and thinking only that he is great for her and not if she is great for him.

This is a genuine question I am curious about and not meant as a criticism at all but I was wondering why Dr Cherie uses the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator model when there isn't an evidence base for it. I'm currently studying a masters in music therapy and here in Australia we're taught that the MBTI is essentially pseudoscience because of it's lack of evidence base and that empirically validated models based on the big 5 like the MMPI-3 or the CPI are what licensed psychologists here use in their practice. Again absolutely no shade to Dr Cherie at all, I was just wondering why a Dr would choose to use something with no evidence base that is not considered a legitimate testing tool by the medical community. The only reason I can think of is that the Myers-Briggs model is more well known in pop culture so it's maybe more accessible to the average person considering you need to be trained to use other tools like the MMPI-3/CPI.

Or maybe it was an edit to progress a narrative that would cause controversy and conversation amongst people who would start such ridiculous theories

this is embarassing to watch as an indian born and growing up living in the west. but i also have to admit that this type of conditioning is very in built in a lot of indian people, especially as we grow up and maneouvre in the western world and try to get ahead. it takes a lot of self reflection to get rid of the feeling that white is superior because it is all around us. so i do feel sorry for shake in a way but i dont at all feel sorry for the way he expressed it in this video. he needs to mature and wake up a little bit. to only go for blondes as a brown man (or woman) is embarassing and i personally believe a form of self-hate

I'm an INTP. You're right about the unappreciated bluntness. I work in marketing and I'm really good at it because I research SEO and know what motivates people. Sometimes when I tell others what type of marketing messages and campaigns work, they get so insulted. I find it kind of funny but it holds me back so much in my career because I just can't seem to sugar coat things, especially when I get excited about an idea

A lot of people think Jimmy is avoidant, which might be true, but I think anyone would be with a relationship with someone as insecure and clingy as Chelsea. He is trying to show up for her, give her reassurance, and still give her a chance despite not being fully attracted to her initially. Chelsea cannot be reasoned with and becomes emotionally abusive and manipulative. Jimmy, or anyone in this situation, would slowly become avoidant because none of their effort is appreciated and constantly feel like the villain to appease Chelsea’s irrational fears and victim mentality. It’s an unwinnable relationship and the thing is, trying to healthily break it off with someone like Chelsea is probably very difficult and confusing, which is part of her emotional abuse cycle. Not justifying cheating, but it wouldn’t surprise me if some of her exes cheated on her with the intention of getting caught just to blow up the relationship because trying to do so in a way to let her down gently felt impossible because she would manipulate them into staying.

Kenneth is definitely gay. He said that he is very physical, yet he barely touches her. During the breakup he tries to make it clear that SHE is the one not into him, but everyone can see through that. She was very clearly into him but he had no interest in being physical. I think his sexuality is also why he was so against having sex before marriage, using his religion as an excuse.

I think part of the reason why I seem to be on Marshall side most of the time is that I know so many women like him. I think in pop culture, we're used to seeing women who get validation from sticking by and "saving" damaged men, kind of like how AD from season 6 was trying to help Clay. Seeing a man do it does highlight how it is not unconditionally love but an issue as well. But, I don't vilify Marshall for that. I just hope he's able to see that pattern and tries to fix it.
